Our parent ministry's Wild Wishes® program grants wildlife encounters to children with a critical illness or loss of a parent or sibling. We have granted 132 wishes. Now, we are taking teens from the program with an interest in conservation and creating what we are calling Higher Calling Gulf Coast Expeditions.
It began with granting the wish of a sea turtle encounter for a young lady who has cystic fibrosis and her friend who just lost her father and has turned into our conservation movement. We take teens on sportfishing, wildlife rehabilitation and photography trips on the coast and mentor them in using social media, podcasting and other means to forward the cause of wildlife conservation.
The young lady in the green shirt had just graduated high school in this photo in 2018. She changed her degree track after this encounter and is now in her fourth semester at Texas Teach studying wildlife management.
